A week after media executives signed a letter to Prime Minister Julia Gillard defending free speech and freedom of the press, News Limited CEO Kim Williams has vowed to fight government censorship, possibly all the way to the High Court.
Just over a week ago, media executives signed an industry letter to the PM attacking more regulation.
Those who signed the letter were: Nine Entertainment's David Gyngell; Seven West Media's Don Voelte; AAP's Bruce Davidson; APN News & Media's Brett Chenoweth; News Limited's Kim Williams; Foxtel's Richard Freudenstein; and Sky News's Angelos Frangopolous.
Sadly, Fairfax and Network Ten boycotted the letter. Fairfax intend to raise their own concerns separately.

Girl Guides trash tradition.
In 1999, Australia voted to stay a monarchy. But, of course, this hasn't stopped the creeping republicanism.
From removing the Oath, taking down pictures of the Queen, removing the Governor from Government House and even scrapping the appointment of new QC's the arrogant politicians have ignored the will of the people.
Now, the Girl Guides have 'voted to cut ties with the Queen'.
'Promising to serve God and the Queen and pledging obedience have been ruled old-fashioned and out of step with modern Australian life by junior and senior guides'
No one voted for the Queen to be removed from our lives.
So far Daily Telegraph readers have rejected the move.

Why is this terrorist not in jail?
Martin McGuinness is a terrorist, who was once an senior Irish Republican Army commander, in Londonderry. He was in this role when Lord Mountbatten, the Queen's cousin was killed by an IRA bomb in the Republic of Ireland. Lord Mountbatten privately supported a united Ireland.

In fact, as a letter to The Belfast Telegraph pointed out, he is in fact guilty of war crimes. As the letter says: ''Article 147 of the Fourth Geneva Convention defines war crimes as: 'Wilful killing, torture or inhuman treatment, including ... wilfully causing great suffering, or serious injury, to body, or health''
But now, the former terrorist is Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland. He takes that position while Democratic Unionist MP Peter Robinson takes position of First Minister in the bizarre 'diarchy'. In this form of government there are two heads of state, one a loyalist and one a republican who have equal power.
Today, in Belfast, Mr McGuinness met with the Queen, a historic occasion. Though it would be better if he was in prison for the war crimes he has committed. One example of his activities was in 1973, when he was arrested with 113kg of explosives and 5,000 rounds of ammounition. At the time he told Court ''I am a member of Óglaigh na hÉireann and very, very proud of it''. Further allegations have been made of his involvement with Republican groups and the murder of innocent people.
One thing this does show, is how gracious Her Majesty is.

Sell Gina
Gina Rinehart is not an ogre. She is a brave, courageous woman who knows what she wants. Sadly, she has been personally vilified by many politicians, including the Prime Minister. She, as she has every right to do, invested in Fairfax and now owns nearly 20%. Yet Fairfax, a dying company, is continuing this pathetic farce of refusing to allow Mrs Rinehart, a highly successfull busineswoman who turned around the debt-ridden Hancock Prospecting after the death of her father any representation on the Board.
The company used the excuse that Mrs Rinehart won't sign the ''Fairfax Media Charter of Editorial Independence''. That excuse was proved feeble after this:
''FAIRFAX Media was embroiled in an editorial interference row last night after a director complained about one of its top radio presenters who had criticised the company for denying the world’s richest woman, Gina Rinehart, a seat on the board.
The unidentified male board member wrote a letter to Fairfax Radio about comments made by 2UE breakfast presenter Jason Morrison on Thursday''
My message to Mrs Rinehart is this: if Fairfax don't give their largest shareholder a single board seat without stupid and hypocritical terms and conditions - sell up and let the arrogant idiots steer the company right off a cliff.
An interesting point was made by Andrew Bolt toay. Mrs Rinehart owns shares in one media company; Network Ten, and has board representation at that company. Network Ten has one Conservative programme, The Bolt Report and several left-wing programmes and staff. The Project, The Circle, George Negus (who used to have a show that was axed due to poor ratings), Hamish McDonald (who hosts Ten Late News), Paul Bongiorno (Political Correspondent) and Kath Robinson (Breakfast co-host) are just some examples.
Channel Ten is a fantastic example of freedom of speech and a diversity of perspectives. If anything, it still leans to the left.

Cyprus begs for money now
Spain and Cyprus have both demanded a European Union bailout, in the latest countries to fall victim to big government spending and a welfare entitlement culture. It is expected Cyprus will seek at least €10 billion ($A12.467 billion).

Mark Pritchard, Bill Cash, Nadine Dorries, Jacob Rees-Mogg and Douglas Carswell are the main contenders to do Britain a favour.
