Why is a wholesaler advertising to consumers?

The NBN Co is a wholesaler, which will sell it's services to Telstra, Optus, etc. So why are millions of dollars of taxpayers money being wasted on pointless advertising?

These campaigns are actually being conducted by the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy.

And remember when Labor used to deride the Howard Government for political advertising. Hypocrites.

  1. THESE ADDS IMFORM THE POEPLE OF THE BENIFITS AND PROGRESS OF OUR FUTURE COMMS GRID ,IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THEM I SUGGEST ITS BECAUSE THEY DEBUNK YOUR MIS IMFORMATION CAMPAIN AGAINST NBN,AND MAY ALSO HIGHLIGHT THE TOTAL STUFF-UP OF TELSTRA PRIVATISATION BY HOWARD GOV

  2. By advertising, NBN Co increase the takeup of the service, which results in higher wholesale income and therefore a faster return on investment.

While NBN Co is a wholesaler, they earn more income every time an additional customer connects to the network, since their wholesale charges are on a per-connection basis.

Thus, it makes perfect sense to advertise the NBN in order to ensure the best value for taxpayers, and ensure that NBN Co starts repaying the Government investment as soon as possible.
