Britain tackles the tough issues

The Dartmoor National Park Authority will ''encourage'' landowners to replace historic stiles on their properties with ''less restrictive'' options to assist the fat, disabled and elderly.

What a joke.

Bye-bye, Bob: Bob Brown resigns

Leader of the Greens and de-facto Prime Minister Bob Brown has resigned as Greens leader. He also intends to stand down from the Senate in June.

Update: A strange decision given he said in May last year Rupert Murdoch was his role-model on retirement. Brown is 67, Murdoch is 81.

Update: Christine Milne new leader, while sole House of Representatives MP, Member for Melbourne Adam Bandt will become Deputy Leader.

Labor responsible for more deaths at sea

Labor's weak border protection policies have already cost countless lives.
Now it seems more are dead at sea thanks to this lunacy.

Anti-semite Ken Livingstone trailing in London

Ken Livingstone at his campaign launch.

Labour's candidate for the London mayoral election Ken Livingstone is trailing by six points to Boris Johnson in the latest poll. Mr Livingstone, a well-known left-wing extremist and anti-semite launched his campaign yesterday. Mr Johnson is leading despite the national Conservative Government's unpopularity and the fact London is a historically left-leaning city.
If you don't know Ken, here is a bit about him:
  • Declared London a ''Nuclear free-zone''
  • Invited Sinn Fein leaders Gerry Adams and Danny Morrison to Council, and claimed Britain's treatment of Ireland was worse than Adolf Hitler's treatment of Jews
  • While MP for Brent East he used his maiden speech to make unproven allegations against M15. He claimed that M15 had colluded with Northern Ireland loyalist paramilitaries
  • In the aftermath of the London bombings he said ''I think you've just had 80 years of western intervention into predominantly Arab lands because of the western need for oil. We've propped up unsavoury governments, we've overthrown ones we didn't consider sympathetic. And I think the particular problem we have at the moment is that in the 1980s ... the Americans recruited and trained Osama Bin Laden, taught him how to kill, to make bombs, and set him off to kill the Russians and drive them out of Afghanistan. They didn't give any thought to the fact that once he'd done that he might turn on his creators. A lot of young people see the double standards, they see what happens in Guantanamo Bay, and they just think that there isn't a just foreign policy''
  • Said this about Palestinian suicide bombers ''Under foreign occupation and denied the right to vote, denied the right to run your own affairs, often denied the right to work for three generations, I suspect that if it had happened here in England, we would have produced a lot of suicide bombers ourselves''
  • Saud US President George Bush was '''the greatest threat to life on this planet''. He also accused Bush of being ''the most corrupt President since Harding''
  • Appointed members of the Trotskyist group Socialist Action to various positions at the Greater London Authority after they supported his 2000 campaign
  • Said Jewish people wouldn't vote for him because ''they're too rich''
  • Had this exchange with a Jewish reporter from the Evening Standard:
Finegold: Mr Livingstone, Evening Standard. How did tonight go?
Livingstone: How awful for you. Have you thought of having treatment?
Finegold: How did tonight go?
Livingstone: Have you thought of having treatment?
Finegold: Was it a good party? What does it mean for you?
Livingstone: What did you do before? Were you a German war criminal?
Finegold: No, I'm Jewish, I wasn't a German war criminal and I'm actually quite offended by that. So, how did tonight go?
Livingstone: Ah right, well you might be Jewish, but actually you are just like a concentration camp guard, you are just doing it because you are paid to, aren't you?
Finegold: Great, I have you on record for that. So, how was tonight?
Livingstone: It's nothing to do with you because your paper is a load of scumbags and reactionary bigots.
Finegold: I'm a journalist and I'm doing my job. I'm only asking for a comment.
Livingstone: Well, work for a paper that doesn't have a record of supporting fascism.
  •   Said this about Jewish developers David and Simon Reuben ''if they're not happy they can always go back to Iran and see if they can do better under the Ayatollahs''. The brothers have no Iranian heritage. When asked to apologise he said ''I would offer a complete apology to the people of Iran to the suggestion that they may be linked in any way to the Reuben brothers. I wasn't meaning to be offensive to the people of Iran''
  • Blamed the 2011 London riots on the Tory Government spending cuts
Yet another example of a dangerous hard-left politician.

Elizabeth Farrelly becomes judge and jury

Socialist Morning Herald columnist Elizabeth Farrelly has today declared Julian Assange is innocent of the sexual assault allegations made against him in Sweden. In her column today she wrote ''It's quite clear that Assange is not guilty - not of rape, not of treason''.
Well, now you say so Elizabeth, the whole case may as well be closed.
